2008: 47. Murder is Easy

“England!

England after all these years!

How was he going to like it?”

Murder is Easy, Agatha Christie

Luke Williams is back in England after years spent as a policeman in the Malay straights.  One day as he rides a train he runs into a dotty old lady who tells him she is going to Scotland Yard to report a series of murders.  Luke laughs her off, until he reads in the paper that she has been killed in a hit and run - and then learns of a suspicious death that took place in her small little town soon after.  He decides he must investigate and he cooks up an excuse to go investigate.  This one was great fun because it has a great red herring ending and thus an extremely satisfying solution.  You know, I was always a Poirot/Marple girl growing up, but I am finding the stand-alones to be great, great fun.
