2007: 108. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, J.K. Rowling

So, (SPOILER ALERT IF YOU LIVE UNDER A ROCK) something really sad and big happens at the end of this book, and it totally overshadowed my entire memory of the book’s plot.  So imagine my glee when I re-read the book (for the first time, actually) and realized how fun it is, before the sad thing happens.  There is so much in this book about falling in love - Harry falling for Ginny, and Ron and Hermione bickering their way towards each other.  And its funny and goofy, and it also is important, later, because the love thing is so important to who Harry is, vis-a-vis Voldemort.  But mostly, it cracks me up, when Hermione is so mad at “Won-Won” that she attacks him with magical birds.  I mean, what woman hasn’t been there?

Can’t wait to see the movie, though with all the flashbacks, it may be a little hard to film.  Still, the same director who did Order of the Phoenix is going to do this one, so I suspect it will delight.

Recommended for:  People who like their magical adventures tinged with teenage romances.
